SETBACK FOR BOMBERS AND FERNANDO GUZMÁN

Setback For Bombers and Fernando Guzmán
Saturday, June 22nd, 2013
All is not well with Fernando Guzmán in his recovery from a torn groin muscle. The 25-year-old Bombers first baseman has already reached some significant steps in his rehabilitation, but his manager said that the team will continue to be cautious with Guzmán and take his progression one day at a time, especially after the setback yesterday. "Yesterday he was feeling pretty good but he didn't do a lot on the field," he said. "Today he was supposed to be on the field doing light stuff and then gradually start working right back up. I think he overdid it." A postworkout examination revealed that Guzmán had reinjured himself and would now miss at least 4 weeks because of it.

This season Guzmán is swinging the bat at a .259 pace. He has hit 12 home runs and scored 36 times, while driving in 33. His on-base percentage is .355 and he has played in 55 games.
