 | Memoto Is June's Top Starter Monday, July 1st, 2013 There's something about a young rookie winning the Pacific League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Masahide Memoto, a 18-year-old starter for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. In June, he topped off the month with a 4-0 mark and 2.11 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 38.1 innings, fanned 45 and held opposing teams to a .201 average. Memoto has fashioned a 10-2 mark for the season, 3.51 ERA and thrown 89.2 innings in 13 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .243 against him. |   |
