 | League Gives Shoemaker 4-Game Suspension Friday, July 17th, 2015 The agitation was hot and heavy at Stable Park yesterday. After a called third strike Knights second baseman Howard Shoemaker protested the call in no uncertain terms. While he and the home plate umpire were jawing face-to-face, a few bumps took place and Shoemaker was ejected from the game.
"It was verbal, nothing more," according to Shoemaker. However, the league frowned on what transpired and suspended him for 4 games.
"The league will never tolerate a player touching an umpire in anger," the commissioner said in the suspension notification.
In 2015 Shoemaker has hit at a .233 clip with 28 hits, 1 home run, 12 RBIs and has scored 16 times. | |
