 | Cherry Hill's Townsend Down with Injury Tuesday, September 9th, 2014 Dealing with injuries is part of the game, and now Johnny Townsend of the Stealers knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Bel Air Princes while throwing a pitch. Because of a torn ulnar collateral ligament, the Cherry Hill reliever is expected to miss 13-14 months. Townsend was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "Baseball can be a contact sport. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen."
This year Townsend has pitched 8.2 innings over 10 relief appearances, picking up no saves and held opponents to a .381 average. Townsend has a 0-2 record with a 14.54 ERA and 7 strikeouts. | |
