 | Bishop Raps Asheville for 5 Hits Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Billy Bishop showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Asheville Tourists and helped the Riverside Red Bulls beat them 9-6.
The manager for the Tourists told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Bishop keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
Billy Bishop hit a solo-shot off Nick Williams in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th and hit a three-run home run off Tim Green in the 11th.
Bishop has a .291 average and a .385 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 23 hits, 3 home runs and driven in 18 runs. | |
