 | 5-5 Day for Allen Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 Getting 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Asheville's Jerry Allen had a very special day against the Cougars when everything came together for him. He really swung the bat with authority, getting 5 hits in 5 at-bats. However, it was Anniston that picked up the victory. They topped the Tourists 7-5 at Cougars Field.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Allen said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em. I had a great day, but the loss kinda put a damper on the day."
Disappointed or not, he still gets his name written in the record books.
Jerry Allen hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Allen is currently batting .223 with 5 home runs, 25 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 60 hits in 269 at-bats. | |
