 | Great Day for Jones -- 5 Hits Saturday, May 10th, 2014 Ninjas left fielder,Spike Jones, had his way with Asheville pitching today at McCormick Field and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was all in vain. The Tourists ruined his great day by outscoring the Ninjas 9-4. He told reporters after the game, "I had a great day, but you got to give Asheville credit, they did what they had to do to win the game. They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits after all is said and done. They did what they had to do -- win the game." The Tourists skipper added, "Oh, I think we noticed what Jones did today. He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him." Spike Jones doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th. This season Jones is batting .526 with 20 hits, 1 home run, 13 RBIs, 6 walks, .591 OBP and has scored 12 runs. He has played in 15 games. |   |
