 | League Suspends Vargas and Pérez for Brawl Friday, June 20th, 2014 After an intense confrontation, both the Cacti Mariano Vargas and the Communists Ricardo Pérez were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Albuquerque-Leningrad game. Both players will miss 7 games as a result of their actions.
"Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Mariano Vargas commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play."
Vargas has a .190 average and a .264 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 15 hits, no home runs and driven in 7 runs.
Pérez has compiled an ERA of 11.65 so far this season, winning 1 games with 3 losses and 1 save. In 22 relief appearances he has hurled 17 innings, yielded 29 hits and struck out 19. Opposing hitters have batted .362 against Pérez. |   |
