 | Andrews Hits for Cycle Against The Georgia Wednesday, May 13th, 2015 "How sweet it is, when the good part of the bat makes contact with the baseball." That's how Scott Andrews, the Carolina second baseman, described what happened in today's 10-8 victory over the The Georgia Grays -- hitting for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that exact order is known as a "natural cycle," something that almost never occurs.
"I heard that sound every time I hit the ball -- it really was a special game for me." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed The Georgia pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record book. Andrews also racked up 2 RBI and 2 runs scored in the game.
Scott Andrews flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Cliff Clark in the 3rd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.
Looking at his stats this year, Andrews has compiled a .349 batting average, while hitting 3 home runs and driving in 22 runs. He has played in 28 games and scored 17 runs. | |
