 | League Suspends Williams and Martínez for Fisticuffs Monday, May 19th, 2014 It was quite a row yesterday at The Battlefield. The Gunners Eric Williams and the Republic Júlio Martínez backed up their angry words with a few shoves and a few swings. Then both dugouts raced onto the field and got involved in the fracas. When it was over, only Williams and Martínez were ejected.
As expected they were informed by the league office that they would each have to serve 5-game suspensions for their inappropriate actions.
In 39 games this season Williams has compiled a .239 batting average with 33 hits and 5 home runs. He has also scored 20 times and knocked in 19 runs.
On the year Martínez has no saves in 16 relief appearances with a 1-0 record and 6.75 ERA. | |
