 | Kanda Gets 5 Hits Sunday, July 6th, 2014 Toshimichi Kanda had an answer for everything the Tokyo Yakult Swallows threw him today in the Chunichi 14-13 triumph at Ballpark of Nakashibetsu College. He made good contact 5 times and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit. The Chunichi third baseman went 5 for 5 in the game to put his name in the record book. Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Kanda said, "I just see the ball and I hit it." Toshimichi Kanda singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 8th. So far this season Kanda is hitting .276 with 5 home runs, 30 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 47 hits in 170 at-bats and a .346 OBP. |   |
