 | Rocha and Ortíz Suspended, Out 7 Games Friday, July 4th, 2014 The league commissioner announced that two players had been suspended for inappropriate conduct. He told BNN, "What I'm trying to do with these penalties is say, we can't stop you from doing these things, but if you do them, you have to understand you will pay the consequences." Baseball can be an intense game and on-field confrontations happen. However, the league disciplinary policy is to punish, sometimes severely, those who decide to settle things with their fists. When Luis Rocha of the Leningrad Communists and Pedro Ortíz of the Birmingham Bobcats got into a scuffle during a game, both players knew that a suspension would be forthcoming. Sure enough, today it was announced that both players will each receive a 7-game suspension for their actions in a recent game at Bulldog Stadium. Rocha is presently hitting at a .261 pace with 9 home runs, 26 RBIs and has scored 21 times. This year Ortíz is 3-and-1 with 3 saves and a 8.03 ERA. He has given up 34 hits in 24.2 innings with 20 strikeouts. |   |
