 | New York SS Brennan Akers Injured Sunday, April 22nd, 2012 Brennan Akers at first refused to leave today's Boston-New York game after he suffered a fractured ankle while running the bases. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty New York shortstop said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Akers out of action for 4-5 months. To date Akers has chalked up a .102 average with no home runs, driven in 3 runs and scored 7 times. |   |
