Saturday, October 20th, 2012: Today the Golden Eagles made an announcement: The era of Rob Lewis is over in Tohoku Rakuten. After a disappointing season, the club officials sat down with Lewis to discuss their decision to make a change. "It wasn't a surprise to me." Lewis said speaking with reporters. "As a team we did not perform up to people's expectations, nor to my expectations. When that happens, someone has to take the blame. This year, that person was me." In an official statement, the Golden Eagles expressed gratitude for Lewis's efforts, but confirmed the need to look for a different voice in the clubhouse. "We thank Rob for providing class, professionalism, experience and leadership during his tenure with the club, but believe we need to make this important change to our team's management."
