 | Kobayashi on Fire: 5-6 for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Tuesday, May 1st, 2012: It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. It might come around only once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Takanibu Kobayashi got one today. He scattered hits all over Sea Hawks Stadium to pace Hokkaido Nippon-Ham to a 13-5 victory over ORIX. The ORIX skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Kobayashi hit several that he is not supposed to hit." Takanibu Kobayashi grounded out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 9th. This season Kobayashi is swinging the bat at a .456 rate with 26 hits in 57 at-bats. To date he has hit 2 home runs, scored 21 runs and driven in 15. |   |
