Saturday, April 14th, 2012: Ending weeks of speculation, Akinori Hoshino announced his retirement today. The Swallows second baseman has been reportedly weighing the decision since last year, sources close to Hoshino say.
"I'm not going to deny it's been a difficult decision," Hoshino said, speaking to the rumors, "but it's time. It took me a while to realize that, but it's time to leave the game."
