Wednesday, May 15th, 2013: Dealing with injuries is part of the game, and now Toshiki Takaki of the Marines knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks while colliding with a player at a base. Because of a torn back muscle, the Chiba Lotte first baseman is expected to miss 4-5 months. Takaki was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "Baseball can be a contact sport. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen."
This season Takaki is hitting .310 with 26 hits, 6 home runs, 17 RBIs, scored 15 runs and played in 23 games.
