 | Ridin' High: Parker Hits for Cycle Sunday, June 9th, 2013: "It's too bad I can't do that every day," Bob Parker said with a smile to reporters after today's game. "It would do wonders for my batting average." Parker had every right to be in a good mood after hitting for the cycle today against Calgary at Eliminators Ballpark. The Royales won the ballgame 11-9, he hit for the cycle, had a 4-for-5 game and boosted his batting average up a few points. The 27-year-old Montreal left fielder chalked up 1 run batted in and 3 runs scored for the game, too.
Who says you can't have it all?
He told the press that a triple is the tough hit to get in a cycle. "As soon as it left the bat, guys jumped off the bench and were rooting hard for me to have enough gas to get there," Parker said. "It was hard to enjoy it... I was breathing too hard... you got to really be in shape to run out a triple."
Bob Parker singled in the 1st, tripled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Herman Misner in the 7th.
So far this season Parker is batting .342 with 6 home runs, 34 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 68 hits in 199 at-bats, 33 walks and a .444 OBP. Parker has played in 50 games. | |
