 | Tarp Trip More Serious Than Thought for Acosta Saturday, June 2nd, 2012: What seemed comical at the time has turned out to be no laughing matter for Manny Acosta of the Sycamores. The starting pitcher joked with teammates after stumbling over the renegade tarp and twisting his left ankle. However, the ankle swelled over the next few days and tests revealed Acosta had actually suffered a high ankle sprain. The revised diagnosis is bad news for Indiana State, since it means Acosta may be out for a month or more. The Sycamores are currently at 23-25 and in 14th place in their division. Asked if the team may need to explore trade options, manager Richie Robertson said, "It's too early to tell at this point. We'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it." | |
