 | McLernon Pitches Gem against Oregon Monday, May 7th, 2012: The Arizona manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is." He was talking about Joe McLernon, who had just hurled a fine 2-hit shutout over the Oregon Ducks. He had 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in the Arizona 6-0 victory. "An outstanding job," the Oregon manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game." This season McLernon has compiled a 5-1 mark, 2.86 ERA and made 8 starts. |   |
