 | 3-HR Dream Game for Benson Monday, April 30th, 2012: Darwin Benson, third baseman for the Oregon State Beavers, had a whale of a game, rocketing three balls out of Red Wings Ballpark against the Arizona Wildcats today in their 10-8 victory. After the game he said, "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them. The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves... all three were mistakes." For the game Benson was 3-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Benson added, "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives. Today I found the home run stroke." Darwin Benson grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Richard Rice in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jonathan Blake in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Sergei Avinovitski in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. This season Benson has banged out 28 hits in 93 at-bats for a .301 average with 11 home runs. He is getting on base at a .416 pace and his totals also include 31 RBIs and 26 runs scored. |   |
