 | Westside's Smith Snaps up August Batting Award Saturday, September 1st, 2012: When Mark Smith stepped up to the plate in August, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the August Herrman League Batter of the Month award. The young Westside first baseman posted a .344 batting average with 3 home runs, 15 RBIs and scored 19 runs. Smith also worked pitchers for 16 walks to post a .443 on-base percentage. In 112 games this season Smith is batting .291 with 124 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 52 runs and driven in 54. |   |
