 | August Herrman League Announces #1 Player Monday, August 20th, 2012: 22-year-old Mark Smith made a few Westside headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and August Herrman League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 9 hits in 21 at-bats to put up a .429 average. Smith collected 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and scored 5 runs. Currently Smith is batting .297 with 117 hits and 9 home runs. He has knocked in 52 runs and scored 47 times. |   |
