 | Columbia's Maxwell Shuts Out Bums Wednesday, June 27th, 2012: "Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage. Well, good pitching also beats bad batting. In his postgame interview the Palm Beach manager said, "Dave Maxwell made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking." Maxwell had 7 strikeouts, 1 walk and allowed only 3 hits as the Columbia 08's whitewashed the Palm Beach Bums 5-0.
