Monday, April 30th, 2012: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the August Herrman League, but last week Jim Smith of the Palm Beach Bums reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Smith rocked opposing pitching for a .650 average (13-20), 6 home runs and 10 RBIs to come away with the award.
This season Smith is hitting .378 with 34 hits, 9 home runs, 24 RBIs, scored 19 runs and played in 23 games.
