Monday, July 15th, 2013: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Alexander Cartwright League, but last week Josh Hays of the Grand Haven Whitecaps reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Hays rocked opposing pitching for a .471 average (8-17), 3 home runs and 9 RBIs to come away with the award.
So far this season Hays is batting .278 with 14 home runs, 63 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 95 hits in 342 at-bats, 54 walks and a .377 OBP. Hays has played in 91 games.
