Monday, June 3rd, 2013: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Alexander Cartwright League, but last week Ekmel Yigit of the Anniston Cougars reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Yigit rocked opposing pitching for a .481 average (13-27), 4 home runs and 11 RBIs to come away with the award.
This year Yigit is hitting .283 with 7 home runs and 25 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .349 clip and scored 28 runs.
