 | Nichols Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Friday, May 3rd, 2013: On top of the Murfreesboro hit parade today was Jim Nichols. He went to the plate 5 times and tagged 5 hits, but it was Blackpool that marched off with the 12-11 win. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-5 performance, however the Gamblers marked it up in the victory column. The sweet swinging shortstop told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Deacons griped to the press, "As a team, we just didn't do it with the bats and the pitching today. That's why we lost." Jim Nichols singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. So far this season Nichols is hitting .286 with 2 home runs, 21 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 30 hits in 105 at-bats and a .405 OBP. |   |
