Hill Hits for Cycle Against Anniston
Hill Hits for Cycle Against Anniston
Wednesday, April 10th, 2013: "How sweet it is, when the good part of the bat makes contact with the baseball." That's how Joseph Hill, the Silicon Valley catcher, described what happened in today's 8-3 victory over the Anniston Cougars -- hitting for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that exact order is known as a "natural cycle," something that almost never occurs.

"I heard that sound every time I hit the ball -- it really was a special game for me." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Anniston pitching for 4 hits in 6 at-bats and his name will now go into the record book. Hill also racked up 6 runs batted in and 2 runs scored in the game.

Joseph Hill flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Jeff Parks in the 6th, hit an RBI triple in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

Thus far in 2013 Hill is hitting .333 with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs, 5 runs scored and has compiled a .355 OBP.
