Monday, July 2nd, 2012: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Kade Stenson League, but last week Leslie Whitney of the Bristol City Smugglers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Whitney rocked opposing pitching for a .433 average (13-30), 3 home runs and 6 RBIs to come away with the award.
Whitney is hitting .336 this year with 10 home runs, 55 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He has 100 hits in 298 at-bats, 52 walks and a .443 on-base percentage. Whitney has played in 80 games.
