Monday, June 25th, 2012: Earlier today, Joplin reliever Miguel Ortíz had to leave the game against Springfield because of an injury. Team officials are reporting that he has a stretched elbow ligament and will miss 9 months of play. Ortíz was hurt throwing a pitch and was unable to continue playing. He will be evaluated this afternoon by team physicians.
So far this year Ortíz has made 1 relief appearance with no saves, thrown 94.2 innings and struck out 59 with a 3-9 record.
