 | Welch Week's Best Player Monday, May 28th, 2012: 22-year-old Matt Welch made a few Fort Worth headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Kade Stenson League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 12 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Welch collected 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and scored 9 runs. Welch is batting .326 this season in 48 games with 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 57 hits in 175 at-bats. |   |
