 | Bad News for Joplin, Felipe Díaz Hurt Saturday, September 28th, 2013: Felipe Díaz at first refused to leave today's Reno-Joplin game after he suffered a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Joplin closer said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Díaz out of action for 10-11 months.
This year Díaz has 13 saves. In 65 relief appearances he has hurled 62.2 innings, fanned 30 and given up 35 walks with a 2-5 record. The Joplin reliever has recorded a 2.73 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .252 when he is in the game. | |
