 | Mayfield Gets 5 Hits Saturday, July 6th, 2013: There are moments in a player's career that are etched into their memories forever. William Mayfield of the Fort Worth Cats had one of those moments when he went 5 for 6 at the plate today in the 17-4 win over the St. John Stingrays at Cruz Bay Park. The 26-year-old catcher told reporters in the postgame interview, "This is a day I won't forget soon, but I'll settle to just get a hit or two every day... enough hits to hang around the league a little bit longer... like 10... 15 more years maybe." William Mayfield singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a three-run double in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. During the current season Mayfield is batting at a .311 clip with 1 home run and 35 RBIs. He has played in 77 games and scored 37 times. |   |
