 | Buff Brilliant -- Fires No-Hitter Tuesday, June 25th, 2013: No hitters are rare. But the fans at Ashton Gate received a special gift as Mike Buff of the Bulls tossed a no-hitter against the Bristol City Smugglers. He was masterful as he struck out 10 and walked 3 in a 1-0 Durham victory. In all Buff faced only 31 batters. Buff did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, but soon got into a groove and made quick work of the Smugglers. He was helped by several defensive gems along the way.
The Bristol City manager said to the press after the no-hitter, "We had our chances in the first few innings, when he was hittable, but he shut us down totally in the last 4-5 innings."
"I had late movement that seemed to cause them a lot of trouble, especially from the fifth inning on," Buff said to reporters.
So far this year Buff has 2 wins and 8 losses and a 5.27 ERA. | |
