 | Free-for-All Costs McFarland and Nájera 7-Game Suspensions Friday, May 17th, 2013: You would have thought you were at a hockey game yesterday at The Death Star. A free-for-all broke out when Michael McFarland of Detroit and Joaquín Nájera of Springfield rushed one another on the field and had to be restrained by umpires and teammates. Few blows landed, but it was enough for them to be ejected from the game.
Today both teams received notification from the league office that the two players would be suspended for 7 games.
Posting a .318 batting average to date, McFarland has 5 home runs and 15 RBIs.
This year Nájera has worked 55.2 innings with 24 strikeouts en route to a 3-3 record and a 4.20 ERA. | |
