Wednesday, August 1st, 2012: Dealing with injuries is part of the game, and now Scott McGuicken of the Tornadoes knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Eureka Hornets while throwing a pitch. Because of a damaged elbow ligament, the Kansas City starting pitcher is expected to miss 11 months. McGuicken was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "Baseball can be a contact sport. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen."
This year McGuicken has compiled a 8-10 record with a 5.00 ERA.
