 | Earthquakes Chill Burris's Hot Streak Tuesday, June 12th, 2012: It was the best of both worlds for the San Francisco Earthquakes today at Golden Gate Park as they defeated the Nottinghamshire Outlaws 6-3 and also ended Danny Burris's 26-game hitting streak. The 23-year-old Nottinghamshire second baseman failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Danny, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Earthquakes skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Burris frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
Currently Burris is batting .365 with 91 hits and 1 home run. He has knocked in 33 runs and scored 26 times. | |
