 | Baker Batters So Cal for 5 Hits Saturday, June 9th, 2012: No matter what the So Cal Republic threw at him today, Abel Baker hit it. He easily handled Republic pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Cardinals to a 16-13 triumph at Staples Field @ The Rose Bowl. He told BNN reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball." The So Cal skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we might just do that... blindfold him... and then pitch him differently, just to be sure." Abel Baker hit a three-run home run off Claude Le Dû in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in a run in the 7th, singled in the 9th and flied out in the 10th. Thus far this year Baker has hit .266 with 8 home runs and 37 RBIs. |   |
