 | Jacksonville-South Carolina Brawl, Valdéz and Thompson Suspended Thursday, May 24th, 2012: It was quite a row yesterday at Skellington Stadium. The Jacks Jorge Valdéz and the Bombers Mark Thompson backed up their angry words with a few shoves and a few swings. Then both dugouts raced onto the field and got involved in the fracas. When it was over, only Valdéz and Thompson were ejected.
As expected they were informed by the league office that they would each have to serve 5-game suspensions for their inappropriate actions.
Valdéz on the season is batting .243 with 3 home runs. His totals include 13 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has played in 29 games.
So far this season, in 24 relief appearances Thompson has compiled an ERA of 1.27. He has pitched 28.1 innings, struck out 30, walked 9 and registered 4 saves. | |
