 | Ramírez and Thomas Fight, Suspended 5 Games Tuesday, May 1st, 2012: The action was hot and heavy at a recent Jacksonville-Dallas game at Skellington Stadium in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Jacks Héctor Ramírez and Dallas's Curt Thomas will each miss 5 games for their roles in the fight.
"We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe."
So far this season Ramírez has hit .266 with 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and and scored 22 times.
So far this season Thomas has no saves in 8 relief appearances with a 0-0 record and 5.68 ERA. | |
