 | O'Day Batters South Carolina for 5 Hits Saturday, September 7th, 2013: "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Craig O'Day after his 5-hit performance against the Bombers. "No offense meant to South Carolina, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Bomber Ballpark."
The Montgomery center fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 12-4 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Craig worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," O'Day said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Craig O'Day singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Ed Bell in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 9th.
So far this year O'Day is hitting .310 with 38 home runs. | |
