Thursday, August 1st, 2013: Both sides appear content with the trade finalized today that will send 32-year-old left fielder Willis Parks to the Carolina Crush, while the So Cal Republic will receive 28-year-old reliever Chip Wolfe and 24-year-old minor league right fielder Elliott Hawkins. "This is a move that filled a few gaps in our roster," said the Republic general manager. For his part, the Crush GM said the trade was made "in the best interest of our organization's future." BNN analysts reported that on paper the trade seemed to be a plus for both ball clubs. The players involved are expected to join their new teams for the next scheduled game.
This year Parks has socked 138 hits in 447 at-bats for a .309 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .364 pace and his totals also include 49 RBIs and 72 runs scored.
