 | Rookie Smith Named Best in June Monday, July 1st, 2013: Almost everyone agreed -- fans, teammates, peers -- and BNN sportwriters, too -- that Doug Smith was worthy of the Thurman Munson League Rookie of the Month award. In the month of June the Maple second baseman was a bigtime threat. The 27-year-old Maple second baseman played in 26 games and hit .274 with 6 doubles, 1 triple and 6 home runs. Smith also scored 14 times and drove in 16 runs. Smith is currently batting .253 with 11 home runs and 42 RBIs. |   |
