 | Williams Smacks 5 Hits for Mountain Cats Saturday, April 20th, 2013: What a day for Eric Williams of the Montgomery Mountain Cats! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped San Diego pitching apart at The Brew Stade and sparked the Mountain Cats to a 8-7 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Williams told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."
Eric Williams singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
Williams is hitting .300 in 2013 with 8 RBIs and 1 home run. | |
